Highlander Reboot Drops Director + Why Ryan Reynolds Should Not Be Hired!

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) has been dropped from the Highlander reboot due to creative differences between the studio and himself.  In even more disturbing news, Ryan Reynolds has been hired to play the lead in the film, immortal Connor MacLeod.

Why movie studio keep hiring Ryan Reynolds for the lead in comic book/superhero related parts I have no idea.  His movies generally flop and are panned by the critics.  His acting range consists of playing himself in every role, regardless of what the character is supposed to be like in the source material.  It’s like the studios are trying to make a bad movie from the start.

Let’s take a look at his history in comic book related films:

Blade: Trinity – 26% on Rotten Tomatoes

X-Men Origins: Wolverine – 36% on Rotten Tomatoes

Green Lantern – 26% on Rotten Tomatoes

All of these movies not only received low ratings from the critics and fans, they are also the movies that killed their respective franchises (with the exception of X-Men where they went back and pretended like X-men 3 and Wolverine never happen).  Think about the Ryan Reynolds version of Jal Jordan, now put him in a trench coat and give him a sword….is that really who you want to see as Connor MacLeod?!
