The Walking Dead Season 2 E7: Pretty Much Dead Already

If you have not read my review for episode 6 from this season, you may do so here: The Walking Dead Season 2 E6: Secrets

This episode has a lot of conversation between the characters.  Everyone is trying to work things out and figure out a path for the future.  After Glenn can’t keep it in anymore, he tells the others about the walkers in the barn.  This sets off an argument between Shane and Rick, causing the walkers in the barn to try and get out to attack them.

As I mentioned previously, there are a lot of conversations in this one.  I’m not going to cover them all but Carol talks to Daryl about Sophia, Dale does his best to convince Andrea that Shane is a bad guy, and Rick talks to both Hershel and Shane, about the baby, staying on the farm and the walkers in the barn.  Maggie also talks to Hershel, she tells him about Glenn and how he saved her life from a walker.  She understands just how dangerous they are even if Hershel doesn’t.

Shane continues to spiral out of control.  He tells Lori that Rick will manage to get himself killed and that her baby is his, not Rick’s.  Due to Shane being so dangerous, Dale steals the bag of guns and hides them out in the woods.  Unfortunately for him, Shane finds him while he is doing it and they face off.  Dale threatens to kill Shane to protect everyone but backs down, allowing Shane to collect the guns.

Hershel takes Rick out to the swamp in order to show him how to capture the walkers.  He explains that they are just sick people, not the living dead.  They manage to bring a couple of the zombies back to the farm to put in the barn.  Shane is there handing out guns to everyone.  He feels this is crazy and shoots one of the walkers in the chest multiple times to show Hershel that these people aren’t sick, they are dead, and extremely dangerous.

Major spoilers ahead…..

Shane goes nuts and opens the barn, everyone unloads on the walkers as they come out of the barn.  This wasn’t a very smart move.  While the walkers should be dealt with, unloading all that ammo was a waste, it was very loud and could attract other walkers and it was dangerous to let them all out instead of just killing them from the top floor of the barn where they are out of harms way.

Just as they think the barn is clear and everyone starts to process the situation…..Sophia walks out of the barn.  She has been in there the whole time.  She must have been bit almost immediately after Rick told her to go back to camp and was captured by Otis before he died.  This is the most shocking thing that has happened in the show so far.
