The Walking Dead Season 2 E2: Bloodletting

If you have not read my review of episode 1 from this season, you may do so here:  http://cinemakingdom.com/?p=325

This episode has an interesting beginning.  It shows what Lori was doing when Rick got shot in the pilot episode.  She was complaining to one of her friends about how Rick stays level headed during their fights and it makes her angry.  Shane drives up and tells her what happened and they let Carl know as he is getting off from school.  What they don’t know is that things are about to get much worse as the zombie invasion is about to start.

Back in the present Rick is carrying Carl, who was shot in the previous episode.  Otis (the man who accidentally shot Carl) tells him how to get to Hershel’s (someone who can apparently help Carl).  Carl is out cold but Hershel is working on him, unfortunately Hershel is going to need more medical supplies for an emergency surgery.  Otis and Shane head off to the local school to try and find what they need (the hospital isn’t an option).

In the woods, the search for Sophia is coming to a close for the day.  Just as they are almost back to camp a walker attacks Andrea.  It looks like she is done for when someone riding on a horse hits the walker with a baseball bat.  It’s Maggie, Hershel’s daughter.  She came to pick up Lori and take her to Rick and Carl.  Maggie also informs everyone on how to get to her families farm.

Rick and Hershel have a conversation about the zombie outbreak.  It’s pretty obvious that Hershel is much more positive about things than Rick is.  Maggie and Lori arrive and Lori immediately hugs Rick and they go inside to check on Carl.  Back at camp they decide to spend the night on the road again, just in case Sophia shows up, but Glenn is sent to find the farm and reconnect with the rest of the group.  At the school Otis and Shane find the supplies they need but are over ran by walkers and end up trapped behind a gate that isn’t going to protect them for very long.

This episode was more about moving the story along than action.  It was a little boring at times, due to many of the scenes revolving around Rick giving blood to Carl but they threw enough plot points in there to move things along.  Overall it’s a solid episode.
I give this episode 3 out of 4 stars
